There are all sorts of words that sound really similar in English that I never noticed because I say them so often & so effortlessly. My roommates Dani & Alberto, and another friend Kurty, pointed these out to me. They asked me to say the difference between 'keys' & 'kiss' so they could hear the difference - AND THEN THEY SANG THEM THE WAY I SAID THEM FOR LIKE 10 MINUTES - they're funny. But really those words sound a lot alike actually.
Also, once Chusman pointed out an 'alive' tree to me and what he meant was 'olive'...also very similar.
I'm going to try and notice more of them, spanish ones too.
'Leak' & 'lick' are another one!
ReplyDeleteWell don't forget about the two word that Teresa tried to avoid saying at all costs: Beach and sheet... for obvious reasons i think!
ReplyDeleteLOVE YOU!!!!
Oh yeah! HAHAHHAAAAA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIn spanish, mine are stupid ones like 'casada' and 'cansada' - married and tired. Those are just because I don't know the damn language not because there are subtle differences in the way they're said, you know?
When I was little mine were fork and fart...I know they don't even sound alike, but remember English was my 2nd language :)
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I've gone through this my whole life with my parents!! They always ask me to say different words slowly so they can kind of hear the difference!!!
