I have been practicing speaking spanish with my friend Silvia
and Silvia practices speaking english with me.
She's my 'intercambio'!!
This kind of relationship has become so common here that they have created a word for it. And my intercambio, Silvia, is full of great information - for example:
- She recently told me the Triana bridge myth - it's not Gustav Eiffel's bridge after all - it's a huge Sevillan urban legend - gasp!
- She taught me that there is an official word describing someone for being like Luis Buñuel - buñueliano. It really is officially part of their language.
- And last night she taught me, "tiene buena pinta" which simply means, "it looks good"!! You can say it for food or for people.
¡Mi intercambio es la mejor!
I told her I wanted to learn some songs in spanish and she sent me this list of oldies but goodies. You can find them all on youtube if you're interested - it's a great list!!!
