I've been trying to collect photos for my friend Aida, who I dance flamenco with back home in CA. Besides flamenco, Aida loves old churches and religious icons. She even has her own art gallery in San Juan Capistrano that specializes in selling original and contemporary painters but also 18th century santos, relics & icons of the spanish & french colonial days (Aida, did I say that right?) So, I've been trying to take lots & lots of photos for her. But, truth be told, most of them suck. BUT (!) I have been thinking of her so much and so here are the few that are worth showing - and here's the website for her gallery that's worth checking out: Villas & Verandas Fine Art Gallery
Enjoy Aida!
This is plaza San Román, not so special but...
this is the restaurant across from the church and...
this is a sign they have posted which I think she'll
thinks is as cool as I do.
This is a painting on one of the old aqueducts - in the middle of a main road!
This church is from Jerez - it's so beautiful!
Here's a church with a painting that says below it that if you can
find the bird in the picture that you would soon get married.
Verity found it! Can you?
Now - (dramatic pause) - the most famous cathedral in Seville - Catedral de Sevilla of course!
-the outside is not just gothic but flaming gothic
The inside took Syna's breath away
Christopher Colombus' tomb supposedly

And here are just some beautiful painted tiles on lots of random buildings.

Lastly this dancer reminded me of Aida. Not only did she have duende but she recited poetry before several of her dances. This was a very artistic show that Aida would have loved.
Hope you liked it Aida - see you soon!
Mi Tinita Linda,
ReplyDeleteGracias por todo eso! Of course I loved all of it - I would be perfectly happy touring all the churches everywhere - that's where so much art is. I wish I was there with you, of course. I miss dancing with you, I miss your passion for flamenco and the energy we feed off each other when we dance together. That's what flamenco is all about for me, el arte, la pasion, el duende, el corazon y la expresion. I admire how you just “go fot it” you follow your heart, your dreams, and you are a genuine person, you are “you” and I love you for that.
Besos,
Aida
